"Knowledge is the most vital source of power, and without energy nothing moves forward."
Executive Director, Gary Jonesi (February 20, 2025)
After designing and leading the U.S. EPA's efforts to require consideration of clean renewable energy projects in every environmental enforcement case resolution, our Executive Director, Gary Jonesi, helped to more than double the average annual number of EPA enforcement cases incorporating wind, solar, and other clean renewable energy projects. This early success, however, was stymied, when Trump Department of Justice official Jeffrey Bossert Clark (who was later indicted in Georgia for allegedly plotting with Donald Trump to overturn the 2020 Presidential election) removed a key enforcement settlement tool supporting these clean renewable energy efforts.
After the January 6th attack on the U.S. Capitol shocked America and the world, Gary realized that the anti-democratic threat that worried him in government is already well established in many energy supply systems. He founded CREEDemocracy because clean renewables are critical not only to saving the planet’s health from climate change but also to freeing ourselves from energy insecurity concerns due to the malignant influence of monopolistic fossil fuel interests and unfriendly or despotic political leaders.
Formed in February 2025, CREEDemocracy's early focus has been on the Trump Administration's authoritarian attacks on environmental protection, the federal workforce, and the rule of law.
